Wordle has been an Internet rage for months now and due to its growing popularity, New York Times is soon going to turn it into a multiplayer board game.

Wordle has been a rage on the Internet for months now. For some, this free-to-play game has become an addiction. The game, developed by Josh Wardle, rose to fame during the pandemic and in 2022 The New York Times acquired it. While users get only one puzzle to solve every day in six attempts, it keeps players glued. The idea is to guess the Wordle answer every day. It is simple in concept, but quite tough to solve. It is also world’s apart from the gruesome battle royale games that have grabbed the fancy of hundreds of millions of people, young and old. And hence, keeping in view its growing popularity, The New York time is planning to make Wordle game available in a physical mode as well.

The New York Times has reportedly collaborated with American toy company Hasbro to introduce Wordle: The Party Game — the board game version of the popular online game. Here’s how it will work

Wordle: The Party Game

The new board game, according to NYT, could be one of the best ways to spend time with your friends or family. It will be an offline version of Wordle’s gameplay but with extra frills. As shared by NYT, Wordle: The Party Game will have multiple rounds and in each of them, a player will be designated as the Wordle host who will write down a Secret Word and other players have to guess the word. The rules of this game will be similar to the digital one which means players will have to guess a five-letter word, in as many as six attempts. “The fewer attempts a player needs, the fewer points they score.” The player with the fewest score will become the winner of the game.

Wordle: The Party Game will be available in North America and Canada in October 2022. However, the pre-order has already started for $19.99. According to the game’s website, it will ship on October 1.

Solving an online Wordle puzzle is a solitary activity however, Wordle: The Party Game, will be a group activity.
