Verdict
A neat and clever battery-powered pool cleaner, the Aiper Scuba V3 is simple to use. Its short battery life means those with larger pools may want to look elsewhere, and it’s a touch frustrating that you only have 10 minutes at the end of a clean to retrieve the robot before it sinks. Those issues aside, the AI-powered camera spots debris well and helps this robot clean well and efficiently.

Key Features
Introduction
Rather than just running around your pool, the Aiper Scuba V3 has an underwater camera that uses AI to spot and remove debris in a targeted way.
It’s a system that truly worked in my tests, but there are a few little annoyances with the product that you need to watch out for, as my review shows.
Design and Features
- Simple charging dock
- App (for when the cleaner’s out of water)
- AI-powered camera
A solid chunk of automated pool cleaner, the Aiper Scuba V3 has dual tank tracks that let it drive around the floors and walls of your pool.
New to this model is the camera on the front, which uses AI to spot debris for targetted cleaning, which should make the Scuba V3 more precise and efficient.

A wireless model, the Aiper Scuba V3 needs to have its battery charged via the provided fold-out dock, which you can sit wherever’s most convenient for you. You’ll need to charge the cleaner between shifts, as there’s no possibility of solar panels for this model (unlike the company’s Surfer S2 pool skimmer), as the Scuba V3 will spend its life under the water.

Getting the Aiper Scuba V3 set up is easy, and it should be connected to the app, where it can be paired via Wi-Fi. Note that Wi-Fi only works while the Aiper Scuba V3 is above water, which does have a knock-on effect at the end of cleaning (more of that below).

In the app, you can set your pool’s dimensions to help it navigate, along with your pool’s shape and design. It takes a bit of time to get this right, but it’s a one-off job.

Once set up, the app let me set where the robot should clean (floor, wall or waterline). There is a scheduling feature, although this requires the Aiper Scuba V3 to be left in the pool ready to go; I found it easier to set it off on a cleaning job as and when required.

Debris is collected in the large, 5-litre basket, which has a fine mesh filter to collect even smaller particles of debris.

Performance
- Short battery life
- Will sink if you don’t retrieve it in time
- Cleans very well
Navigation is excellent on the Aiper Scuba V3. It ably made its way around the floor of our test pool in Florida, up the walls (avoiding the jets), and around the water line.

Our test pool has some sections with curved sides, which proved a little trickier for the cleaner to deal with, although it did manage to reach most spots alright.

I was impressed by its AI detection features, collecting even small particles from the floor and walls of the pool.

Battery life comes in at three hours, which is enough time for smaller pools but probably not quite enough for larger ones. In all cases, there is one issue: as Wi-Fi doesn’t work underwater, when the Aiper Scuba V3 is finished, it has to drive up the wall to the waterline, so it can reconnect and send a push notification.
Once it’s there, the Aiper Scuba V3 has to keep moving to stay near the waterline, so you have 10 minutes to respond and grab it. If you miss it, as I did, then the robot runs out of battery and sinks to the bottom of the pool, where it needs to be retrieved by a pole and hook. That’s a fairly tricky job at first, although I did get better with a bit of practice.
Should you buy it?
You want a simple, efficient pool cleaner
With its AI-powered camera, this pool cleaner managed to spot and clean up debris with ease.
The relatively short battery life means that those with larger pools may prefer a model with a larger battery.
Final Thoughts
A neat bit of kit, the Aiper Scuba V3 is a good value pool cleaner. Its short battery life probably means it’s not so good for larger pools, and it’s propensity to run out of battery and sink at the end of a clean a little frustrating; but, the overall cleaning is excellent and it’s simple to empty and charge this robot for its next run.

FAQs
Yes it has Wi-Fi, but this is only available while the robot is at or above the waterline.
