Andrea Morell’s latest showcase at New York Fashion Week 2024 was nothing short of a landmark moment—not only for her as a designer but also for Croatian fashion on the global stage. Sponsored by CroPride and Pavišić Group and presented under the EPN Fashion Week platform, the show underscored Morell’s impressive range, celebrating the modern, dynamic woman.
The journey to the runway, however, wasn’t without challenges. Morell’s collection was lost in transit at Frankfurt Airport, arriving only hours before the show. “I couldn’t believe it,” Morell shared. “I arrived in the U.S., but my collection was on another continent. Thankfully, Marijan Pavišić kept our spirits up and urged the airport to locate the luggage just in time.”
Despite the logistical nightmare, Morell remained calm about the show itself. “I wasn’t nervous about the runway. What made me anxious was the airplane ride. I’m terrified of flying, especially over the Atlantic for eight hours. But I knew it was all or nothing—no room for fear.”
The collection opened with Morell’s signature streetwear—urban, tech-infused pieces featuring hoodies and casual looks. True to her forward-thinking approach, these hoodies displayed QR codes that directed wearers to curated content, including articles, films, and playlists celebrating influential female artists throughout history. This seamless blend of fashion and education invited the audience to engage with culture in a meaningful, tech-forward way.
As the show progressed, the designs transitioned into avant-garde businesswear, showcasing Morell’s ability to marry street style with high-fashion sophistication. The finale was a powerful moment, with avant-garde pieces featuring candles integrated into the outfits themselves, symbolizing female empowerment and resilience. These bold designs spoke to the diverse roles women inhabit, offering looks suited for a casual day downtown, a high-powered business meeting, or an elegant evening event.
The Visković sisters, winners of a giveaway hosted by Croatians Online, attended the event in support of Morell’s success. Their presence highlighted the community and pride surrounding Croatia’s growing fashion scene, which continues to make waves internationally. Meanwhile, Nina Bebek, a familiar face on Morell’s runways, returned once again to walk for this collection. Bebek’s presence further solidified her status as a symbol of Croatia’s rising fashion talent.
With this collection, Andrea Morell cements her position as a trailblazing designer and a key figure in elevating Croatian fashion on the global stage. Her collaboration with CroPride emphasizes the cultural heritage she honors, while her innovative designs continue to push boundaries. Morell’s work is more than just fashion—it’s a celebration of creativity, empowerment, and cultural dialogue.
