Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan

The Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan arrived securely packaged in a relatively big box. Honestly, I was pleased to see that the box was so large, as I hoped it meant there would not be a lot of assembly involved.

And I was right. There were only three pieces to put together: the GyroWings (left and right air outlets) came attached to the main unit, so I merely needed to attach the base plate to the base, and then connect the main unit to the base. The box also included 4 screws, a screwdriver, and two disassembly tools (if I ever need to take the fan apart). 

After flipping the base upside down, I attached the base plate, and then inserted and tightened the 4 screws in the screw holes. Then, I flipped the base right side up and aligned the unlock icon on the base with the corresponding icon on the main unit. The next step was to insert the main unit into the base, and rotate the main unit in a clockwise position until it clicked into place.

There were instructions for attaching the GyroWings to the main unit, but as I stated earlier, this unit arrived with the GyroWings already attached. (However, the process looked pretty straightforward: just insert the left GyroWing until it clicks, and repeat with the right GyroWing.) 

I have a pretty sweet fan collection, having tested the Dyson Find+Follow Purifier Cool PC3, Shark TurboBlade, Shark FlexBreeze, and a few trendy models by Dreo. However, the Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan has perhaps the most impressive appearance of them all. Admittedly, it has a boxy bottom, but the top is sleek and stylish. The fan is available in two color choices: silver, and beige. 

The ability to oscillate the GyroWings independently is another feature that makes the fan stand out. There are optical alignment sensors in the fan that keep the dual air wings synchronized, and since the fan is bladeless, it’s safer to use around kids and pets.  

Icons on the LED display/control panel include the power button, fan speed, left GyroWing oscillation (up or down), right GyroWing oscillation (up or down), and head oscillation (which turns the entire machine left or right).  

The control panel also displays the temperature, timer, WiFi status, timer, hour (for timer), silent mode, and child lock. The onboard controls are easy to navigate, although they dim quickly, sometimes making the panel hard to view.

Fortunately, there’s also a remote control that includes the same icons, as well as the icon for mode, light, and oscillation reset. The remote control attaches magnetically to the top of the fan, making it easy to keep track of.

The air intake panel is on the back side of the base, and includes a magnetic dust panel that is easily removed to clean the washable filter. 

Inside of the base is also a biomimetic bird-wing impeller, designed to lower aerodynamic noise. The base’s bottom has a vibration damping design that absorbs vibrations and keeps the fan stable. 

The app makes it even easier to use the Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan. The app displays indoor and outdoor temperatures, and I can select modes, change the wind speed and rotation, sync the GyroWings, enable the child lock, and turn the ambient light on or off, 

In addition to onboard controls, and the remote control, the fan is also compatible with voice assistants, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home.

The fan also has safety features, like the child lock, as well as 8-layer circuit protection (overload, low voltage, high voltage, stall, under-voltage, overcurrent, overheat, and power-off memory).

At first glance, it really didn’t appear that the fan would be able to adequately cool a large room. The small air channels in the GyroWings didn’t seem powerful enough to produce a strong airflow. However, the channels actually concentrate the airflow, making it stronger and more efficient. Also, it turns out that the curved guide ribs aren’t just there for aesthetic reasons. They actually contribute to the even airflow, and help to reduce both noise and turbulence. 

The ability to oscillate each GyroWing independently increases the fan’s effectiveness. Each one of the GyroWings operates independently, and can be oscillated horizontally 180°. And the base can be vertically rotated 180°. Regardless of how I rotate the GyroWings, when I turn the fan off, they return to their original, upright position.

I’ve had the fan since the spring of this year (April to be exact), but I live in the south, and the summer heat starts in the spring. I found that the fan was well able to keep me cool during the spring and into the summer. Admittedly, I have central air conditioning, but I try to keep my thermostat on 78°F during the summer, which is the recommended setting to keep my power bill from skyrocketing. Even from across the room, the Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan’s airflow can easily reach me and keep me quite comfortable. While I used the higher fan levels as I was testing, as a general rule, I kept the fan level on four, which was quite sufficient to keep me cool and comfortable. 

Regarding the noise level: on two, which produces a nice breeze, the fan is completely silent at 44.4dB. On four, the noise level is 48.2dB; on level six, it’s 53.7dB; on level eight, it’s 59.4; and on 10, which is definitely hearable, but not distractingly loud, it’s 61.71dB. 

There are three airflow modes. In smart mode, the fan automatically adjusts to temperature changes to maintain consistency without me having to make adjustments. In natural wind mode, the fan produces the sensation of outdoor breezes. Sleep wind mode is designed to provide a gentle airflow – and since I like to sleep under the covers regardless of the season, this mode comes in quite handy. 

The Dreame MF10 Bladeless Fan has a washable filter, which is easy to clean, but another interesting and optional feature is the ability to purchase an upgraded high efficiency filter, which can capture airborne particles larger than PM2.5, such as pet dander, lint, and  dust. It’s sold separately, although you can purchase the Dreame MF10 fan that includes the high efficiency filter as well (it’s more expensive), and this upgrade allows the fan to also function as an air purifier, similar to several of Dyson’s air purifier/fan combos.

My complaints with the fan were minimal. For example, there’s no handle to help carry the 13-pound fan, and when I wanted to move it, I would have to pick it up from the base. A couple of times, when not paying attention, I would pick it up by the main unit – but then I would remember that the main unit merely clicks into the base, as opposed to being held in place by screws, and I would immediately put the fan back down and pick it up the correct way.
