Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A neat, simple way to keep your wine bottle at perfect drinking temperature.

A great way to get the best out of any bottle of wine, particularly white, sparkling or rosé, the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler offers targeted cooling. I found it worked best when set to a degree or two below the ideal serving temperature, where it kept my wine perfectly and allowed me to vary temperature based on the type of wine. Its high-pitched beep when ready is a little annoying, but if you love wine and want the best out of it while serving, this device is brilliant.

  • Cheap to run

  • Works with all bottles

  • Easy to use

  • Slightly annoying beep

  • Temperature was a couple of degrees off

Key Features

Introduction

Even if you have a wine fridge, there’s the age-old problem of how you serve your wine at the perfect temperature and keep it there from start to finish. For bottles of fizz, white or rose wines, the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler could be for you.

A clever bottle chiller and holder, this device cools your wine to the target temperature and maintains it.

Design and Features

  • Fits any bottle of wine
  • Easy to use

Designed for bottles of wine, the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler is a simple bottle holder with an integrated powered cooling element and temperature control. It’s remarkably simple to use, and is ideal for white, sparkling and rose wines, where you don’t need to aerate.

It’s also compatible with red wines, if you don’t want to aerate in a decanter but still want the right drinking temperature.

To use the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler, just plug it in, and drop your cooled bottle of wine into it. Once plugged in the cooler has a blue LED to show it’s in standby mode.

Hit the power button and select your target temperature (between 5°C and 20°C), and the cooling element turns on, and the LED turns red.

Once the target temperature has been reached, the LED turns green and there’s a loud beep, which sounds like a home appliance with a fault. I could turn the LED off but not disable the beep.

It’s useful having such a range of target temperatures, as this allows for all types of wine, and you can even target different types of white wine with the ideal serving temperature.

Performance

  • Low running costs
  • Needs to be set a little lower than the ideal

I found that I needed to set the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler to a slightly cooler temperature than the target setting. Setting the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler to 9°C, I found that my white wine was 11.4°C when it hit the glass.

That’s a slightly bigger temperature differential than with the Solenco Life Precision Wine Cooler with Decanter; I’m assuming that this is because the thickness of a wine bottle (and the different types available) can throw off the temperature sensor in the wine cooler a little more than with the decanter, which is fixed.

I would experiment with a thermometer while you get used to the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler and go a couple of degrees cooler than drinking temperature.

This wine chiller uses a maximum of 60W, but I found it just 0.4kWh over an hour, which is around 10.8p per hour (assuming a unit cost of 27.03p per kWh). That’s cheap for keeping wine at the right temperature: a cooler jacket or bucket of ice will make the wine too cold.

Should you buy it?

Buy if you want bottles of wine at the right temperature

With targeted temperature control, this device lets you get the best out of any bottle of wine.

Don’t buy if you’re happy with standard cooling

If you just like your white wine very cold, a wine jacket or ice bucket will do the trick

Final Thoughts

A great little device for keeping wine at the perfect temperature, the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler is ideal for those who, particularly, love white, sparkling or rose wines. I wish the beep could be disabled but that minor annoyance aside, this device is great value.

FAQs

Can you use red wine with the Solenco Life Precision Bottle Wine Cooler?

You can use any bottle with this product, but red wine might be better served by the Solenco Life Precision Wine Cooler with Decanter.
