Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow Review

Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow Review

Verdict

The first cleaner from the company to use a roller, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow has a mid-range price, but high-end features. It’s very powerful and vacuums well, and it mops brilliantly, although you may need to pre-treat the tougher stains. It’s nice to see the roller shield, which protects the carpet and lets this robot deal with mixed flooring well. There are some minor annoyances, including the lack of a detergent tank and no mopping mode. However, at this price, that’s all fair.

  • Deals well with mixed environments

  • Well priced

  • Powerful suction

  • Cleans most stains well

Key Features

  • Review Price:
    £799

  • Roller shield

Stops the wet roller from getting water on carpets

  • Powerful suction

    35,000Pa of suction power

Introduction

The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow might have the company’s mid-range naming scheme, but it’s the first from the company to use a roller for mopping in the UK. Roller mopping, in theory, is better than using mop pads because clean water is applied, and dirt is sucked up into a secondary tank.

With a powerful docking station, flexible app and the fall gamut of AI obstacle detection, is this the ultimate mid-range robot vacuum cleaner? Read on to find out more.

Design and features

  • Hot water washing
  • Roller shield protects carpets
  • AI obstacle avoidance

With its all-white finish and curved docking station, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow looks pretty much like a high-end robot vacuum cleaner, belaying its more mid-range price.

There’s a lot that shouts high-end about this robot vacuum cleaner, starting with the docking station. This station has a 4L tank for clean water and 3L tank for dirty water. With this model, there’s no separate detergent tank, so most cleaning is via water only.

Underneath the tanks is the 2.7L disposable bag, which is where all of the dirt gets sucked into.

Certainly, this docking station, bar the detergent holder, isn’t that different to the one that ships with the Roborock Saros 20.

This docking station can clean the mop roller, using 75°C water, and then drying it with air heated to 65°C.

Pull the robot out, and it has many similarities to the Saros 20, including a LiDAR dome that can retract into the robot’s body, so that it can get under tight spaces. Overall, the robot is 8.98cm tall, so it should fit under most sofas.

Take the robot out, and it looks very similar to the other robots in the range, with the Reactive AI cameras at the front.

Pop the top off and there’s the small bin inside, which you won’t need to empty by hand but you will need to remove for filter cleaning.

There’s the standard layout of buttons, too: one to start/pause a clean, and one to send the robot back to the dock.

Flip the robot over and there’s the DuoDivide brush that has been used on other Roborock vacuum cleaners. This has a split in the middle, with the idea that hair makes its way to the middle, drops off the roller and is sucked up without tangling.

There are two side brushes. All brushes can be lifted off the floor when not needed, such as when returning to the dock, to prevent dirt from getting back onto the floor.

New is the roller, the first to make it to a Roborock vacuum cleaner. As with other roller-based systems, fresh water is dosed onto the roller and then dirt squeegeed off into a separate tank.

This roller has a couple of neat tricks. First it can slide sideways for proper edge cleaning. Secondly, it can lift off the floor, and a roller shield can swing around it, protecting carpets from getting wet. I’ve not seen such a system since the Dreame Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete. That’s something that even the more expensive Eufy Omni S2 can’t do.

Control of the robot is, of course, through the Roborock app. It’s mature and powerful and you largely get the same features here as with the high-end robots.

Once connected to Wi-Fi the robot needs to be sent around to map, which is a pretty quick job. Once done, there’s the option to set the map up the way that you want, including splitting or merging rooms, adding furniture (which can be selected as a quick zone for rapid cleaning), and selecting areas where you want the robot to go under furniture.

There’s then the cleaning options. You can choose to clean the full map, a room (or rooms) of your choice) or a zone that you draw on the map.

Strangely, the cleaning modes are a little more limited here than with other Roborock cleaners, and there’s no mop-only mode: only vac followed my mop, vac & mop, and vacuum.

I’m not sure why this isn’t an option. Clearly the robot is capably of mopping only, as the vac followed my mop mode shows.

All modes off four vacuum power levels (vacuum only gets one even higher power mode), and 30 levels of mopping. That’s similar to what Dreame offers, but it’s far too many water flow levels to choose from. Is there really a difference between level 22 and 23, for example?

There are three routing modes, depending on how well you want the floor to be covered. Most modes offer one or two passes, but vac followed by mop only has one.

Dive into the advanced settings, and the robot can re-mop dirty areas after cleaning its mop pads automatically, covering very dirty areas more thoroughly. And, it’s worth making sure that the FlexiArm mop arm is turned on, so that the robot can clean right to the edges of rooms.

Performance

  • Lots of suction power
  • Edge mopping is excellent
  • Can need some help with tougher stains

To see how well the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow performs, I put it through my standard tests, starting with the carpet test. I gave the robot two passes on maximum power. As the robot is rated at a massive 35,000Pa suction power, I was expecting flawless results.

However, performance isn’t just about raw power, but also how well a robot covers an area and how well its brush bar agitates dirt. Where the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow passed properly, it collected everything, but there were a couple of small patches left.

Hard floor performance was spot-on. With dust in the middle of the floor, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow easily collected everything.

Edge performance is also excellent, although that’s largely thanks to the mop hogging the edges of the room.

At the end of cleaning, there was a neat, but thin line of dust that the robot couldn’t quite reach.

I put human hair down on the carpet, and the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow collected it all without any getting tangled.

Next, I moved on to the mopping tests, using the vac and mop option, with two passes. My coffee stain was removed easily.

Similarly, the red wine stain was removed from the floor.

My mud stain has some loose bits of dirt, as well as the ground-in stain. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow managed to collect everything.

My toughest test it the ketchup stain, and here the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow struggled a little. After two passes, the stain was still very visible.

I decided to help the robot out, and sprayed the stain with kitchen cleaner and left it for a couple of minutes. After two more passes, the stain was mostly gone, and the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow managed to collect the rest of the mess after another couple of passes.

Navigation is very good. The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow skirted around my left-out shoes, cables and fake pet mess. And, despite a crowded lab, it got under the sofa, and around the big pile of boxes.

I measured sound at 69.1dB on the highest setting, which is a little louder than some models, and not far off a regular cordless cleaner.

Battery life is rated at up to 240 minutes on the lowest mode. On the maximum mode, there was enough power for two vacuuming passes of the lab, plus spare in the tank for some spot cleaning. In other words, you don’t need to worry about getting caught short.

Should you buy it?

You want flexibility at a sensible price

With most of the features you’d find on a flagship model, but for a lot less, this is a great mid-range choice.

You want more modes and deeper mopping

If you want more powerful mopping and more choice of modes, including mop-only, you’ll need to spend more.

Final Thoughts

At £799, the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Flow packs in a lot of features, and it has several high-end features that I wouldn’t expect at this price. It’s good to see the roller shield, which covers the roller and protects carpets, making this robot ideal for mixed environments. General cleaning performance is very good, and close to the best available. Mopping is good, too, although you may need to help the robot with spray cleaner for stubborn stains. I’m not quite sure why the app doesn’t have a mop-only mode.

If you want something even more capable, you’ll need to spend a lot more. Read the guide to the best robot vacuum cleaners for inspiration.
