Built to match the Miele WQ 1000 WPS washing machine, the Miele TQ 1000 WP tumble dryer has the same sleek and modern design. Its squared-off case, and black command strip look fantastic. Stand this machine next to the washing machine, and you get a continuous washing wall.
This tumble dryer has lots of clever features, starting with the ComfortOpen door. Press the door gently and it’s automatically pushed open, so I could easily open the door even with a basket full of washing in my hand.
This door opening system can also be used automatically at the end of a drying cycle to allow fresh air to circulate over clothes.
Inside the drum is a similar honeycomb layout to the WQ 1000 WPS washing machine. It’s designed to treat your clothes with care and uses insulating strips to reduce rattling sounds when in operation.
There’s space inside for 9kg of wet washing, which gives enough space for large loads of washing or even big items, such as duvets.
A motion sensor is built into the control panel, waking the tumble dryer as you walk past. There’s an option to reduce the sensitivity of this mode, or you can completely turn the system off if you find that the tumble dryer turns on too frequently.
At the bottom of the door are two slots for Miele’s FragranceDos fragrance flacon. These pods (one provided, but plenty of additional options from Miele) add a fresh scent to laundry, and last for 50 drying cycles each.
Each flacon can be twisted to adjust the amount of scent it releases or turned off. With two flacons installed, you can double up on the same scent for a more intense result, or switch between two different scents, all without the need for fabric conditioner.
Above the FrangranceDos holder is the slide-out lint filter. It’s very easy to remove and clean, neatly clicking back into position.
A secondary filter is at the bottom, under a fold-out door. This will need regular cleaning, as there’s no automatic filter cleaner as you get with the Whirlpool W6 D94WR UK.
An M Touch Pro touchscreen display is used to select the dry cycle and options, such as the level of drying. I love this interface: it’s bright, bold and easy to understand, plus there’s information for each cycle so there’s very little need to turn to the manual.
As well as the regular drying modes, the Miele TQ 1000 WP has some special ones, including a faster QuickPowerDry mode, Woollens, Bed linen, Basket (for use with the optional drying rack, such as for shoes), and a PowerFresh option, which uses Steam.
For steam, the condensate container (where water is collected if you don’t hook up the hose) has to be filled to at least the minimum mark. That’s a good way of doing things, as you can easily add water when needed. With the Beko B5T49231IW, if the steam tank is empty, you need to run a drying cycle to collect enough water.
As well as touchscreen control, the Miele TQ 1000 WP is compatible with the Miele app for remote control and monitoring. If you do have the matching washing machine, the Wash2Dry option automatically sets the tumble dryer based on the washing machine cycle, so you finish washing and then have the right cycle for drying.
Performance

I found the Miele TQ 1000 WP very cheap to run, with its sensor drying able to stop the cycle at just the right point. Starting out with the Eco cycle and set to Cupboard dry, I found that my clothes came out with 96.48% of the water removed: enough that they feel dry, but not so much moisture left that you’d risk them going away damp and getting mouldy.
This cycle costs just 20p to run (assuming a running cost of 24.5p per kWh), which is exceptionally low.
With the hanging dry level set, my clothes came out with 95.37% of the water removed from them (again, spot on), with a running cost of just 16p. That’s very cheap, indeed.
If you need clothes in a hurry, the QuickPowerDry option is available. Running this, my clothes had 99.17% of the water removed, at a running cost of 29p; useful for clothes in a hurry, but I’d generally save the cash and run one of the slower modes.
I love the FragranceDos system: each time, my clothes came out smelling fresh, but not overly scented. If you’re going to buy this machine, it’s well worth buying into this system.
Using the steam refresh option, I managed to add some life back into a couple of jumpers that had sat in a cupboard for a while. This cycle costs just 4p to run, and is a great way of refreshing clothes that don’t need washing.

Buy if you want low running costs and careful clothing care
Gentle with clothes, precision drying, low running costs and beautifully scented results, this is an incredible high-end tumble dryer.
Don’t buy if you want something cheaper
This tumble dryer is expensive and could be hard to justify for many, particularly when there are cheaper tumble dryers that also produce excellent results.
Final Thoughts
The Miele TQ 1000 WP is very expensive, but it’s also very good: it’s super cheap to run, very careful with clothes – and its FragranceDos system makes clothes smell fresh and ready to go.

This tumble dryer has lots of clever features, starting with the ComfortOpen door. Press the door gently and it’s automatically pushed open, so I could easily open the door even with a basket full of washing in my hand.

Inside the drum is a similar honeycomb layout to the WQ 1000 WPS washing machine. It’s designed to treat your clothes with care and uses insulating strips to reduce rattling sounds when in operation.

I found the Miele TQ 1000 WP very cheap to run, with its sensor drying able to stop the cycle at just the right point. Starting out with the Eco cycle and set to Cupboard dry, I found that my clothes came out with 96.48% of the water removed: enough that they feel dry, but not so much moisture left that you’d risk them going away damp and getting mouldy.
This cycle costs just 20p to run (assuming a running cost of 24.5p per kWh), which is exceptionally low.

If you need clothes in a hurry, the QuickPowerDry option is available. Running this, my clothes had 99.17% of the water removed, at a running cost of 29p; useful for clothes in a hurry, but I’d generally save the cash and run one of the slower modes.
I love the FragranceDos system: each time, my clothes came out smelling fresh, but not overly scented. If you’re going to buy this machine, it’s well worth buying into this system.
