In a powerful return to music, JAYSOEAZY is stepping back into the spotlight with his new four-track EP, “Halfway,” a project that dives deep into internal conflict, love, addiction, and family wounds.
The EP includes four songs — “Replay,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Fools Call at Pool Halls,” and “Dontavius” — each one revealing a different side of the emotional battle JAYSOEAZY faces throughout the project. While the title “Halfway” suggests being caught between two worlds, the EP itself reflects that idea through lyrics about trying to love while still carrying emotional damage, loneliness, and unresolved pain.
“Replay” opens the project on a more hopeful note. The song centers around finally finding love again after struggling for so long to experience it in the past. Rather than focusing on heartbreak, the track leans into the fear and excitement of allowing yourself to trust someone after feeling emotionally disconnected for years.
“Winter Wonderland” continues the emotional themes of the EP, but with a colder atmosphere. The title represents JAYSOEAZY’s heart being cold from past experiences, while the lyrics make it clear that despite that emotional distance, the woman in his life would still receive his time, attention, and effort. The song creates the image of somebody who may be emotionally frozen on the inside, but still wants to love correctly.
“Fools Call at Pool Halls” takes a darker turn. The song serves as a confession of almost never being sober, with JAYSOEAZY describing nights spent drinking heavily and thinking about a woman while sitting alone in bars and pool halls. The record captures the loneliness that can come with addiction, while also showing how memories of someone can follow a person even in their lowest moments.
The emotional centerpiece of “Halfway” is “Dontavius,” a song about JAYSOEAZY’s father and the pain caused by his absence. In the track, he questions why his father was not around and opens up about the emotional damage that absence created. Instead of pure anger, the song is filled with sadness, reflection, and unanswered questions. By including “Dontavius” on the EP and releasing it on his birthday, JAYSOEAZY turns the record into one of the most personal and symbolic moments of his career.
With “Halfway,” JAYSOEAZY is not just making music again — he is telling his story. The EP showcases a more mature and vulnerable version of the artist, proving that his return is not only about sound, but also about honesty and emotional depth.
