Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower Review

Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower Review

Verdict

The Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower is a powerful and easy to use blower for everything from fallen leaves to piles of sawdust. Solidly built and made from premium materials, it looks rather different to most other leaf blowers and is great for most jobs, although the narrow blast of air isn’t so good for clearing paths.

  • Powerful brushless motor

  • Impressive power-to-weight ratio

  • Easily adjustable nozzle tip

  • Wide leaf blower tip not included

Key Features

Introduction

The Worx range of garden tools is large and, if you’ve already got some cordless devices, the Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower could make a lot of sense. In fact, even if you don’t have existing tools, this leaf blower could make a lot of sense.

Light but very powerful, it’s a good all-rounder for most jobs, although as my full review shows, it could do with a wider nozzle as standard.

Design and Features

  • Comfortable grip shape
  • Sliding section controls air speed and volume
  • Supplied with a large 4.0 Ah battery

With a comfortable rubberised grip, a slim middle section, and a jet engine-type cowling on the front end, the Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower has a unique take on leaf blower design. It might look different, but it feels natural in the hand and is remarkably easy to handle.

And weighing just 1.7kg with the battery installed is impressive going. The controls are simple- a little orange roller switch selects between power levels one and two, and that’s about it.

However, you can make more adjustments to the power with the sliding section on the front.

The sliding portion serves two purposes. Extending it to its full length firstly increases the volume of air being pushed out. And secondly, it moves the tip closer to the ground where you can blow stubborn wet leaves off patio slabs, for example.

Power comes from an included 20V, 4.0Ah battery. That’s a generous-sized battery that you can plug into, at my last count, 140 different Worx tools. And it has a little charge level indicator on it, too.

The blower doesn’t come with a dedicated hook for storage, but it’s small and light enough to stow away easily between jobs.

Performance

  • Impressive air speed
  • Easy to direct the air flow
  • 25 minutes runtime on a single charge

At first, I wasn’t sure if this slim and lightweight leaf blower would be up to the job. And I’m happy to say that I was completely wrong. The Worx WG543E is a powerful blower with excellent balance that’s easy to focus where you need it.

I recorded the wind speed from 1m away from the tip of the nozzle. On the maximum setting it produced a powerful 8.5m/s. That’s seriously impressive for such a light blower. And thanks to the brushless motor and large capacity battery, it ran for almost 25 minutes on a single charge. That’s about as much leaf blowing as any normal garden owner will need to do.

And even with all this power it’s not too noisy either. I measured it at 81 dB on low and just 85 dB on high. That’s about equal to a lawnmower, so it’s not an unpleasant volume.

The only real drawback I could find was that the wide sweeper nozzle tip doesn’t come as standard. The standard tip is great for focused blowing work, but path clearance is made much easier with a “broom” type tip.

Should you buy it?

You want a garden tool that is both light yet very powerful

Very easy to use and, if you have other Worx tools, you can share batteries between them.

Your main job is clearing paths of leaves

The narrow focus of this blower is impressive, but you’d need to buy an extra accessory to get the wide nozzle tip.

Final Thoughts

Of all the leaf blowers that I’ve had the chance to test out, the Worx WG543E is one of my favourites. Lightweight but also powerful, just about anyone can use it for long sessions. And because it’s supplied with a decent size 4.0 Ah battery, it will run for ages and slot into lots of other tools. It’s a very impressive piece of kit, although it could do with a wide nozzle for cleaning paths. For something different, look at the guide to the best leaf blowers.

FAQs

What does the sliding section on the front of the Worx WG543E Cordless Leaf Blower do?

This adjusts air flow and puts the nozzle closer to the ground.
