Key Features
Introduction
The Thyme & Table Coffee Maker is a 12-cup, programmable drip coffee appliance that makes good coffee across the spectrum. That spectrum includes Classic, Light, Robust, and Iced Coffee. This type of variety is rare in such a moderately-priced coffee maker.
The charcoal filters and gold mesh filter are other features that make the Thyme & Table an outstanding choice in this price. In addition, the user-friendly design and easy-to-view control panel/interface combine to make it quick and easy to brew the perfect cup of coffee. If you don’t like complex coffee makers with lots of buttons, the minimalistic design of this attractive model will more than appeal to your desire for simplicity.
Design and features
- Gold mesh filter
- User-friendly control panel
- Programmable
The Thyme & Table Coffee Maker arrived in a brown, cardboard company-branded box. Inside of that box was a beautiful black company-branded box with white and gold text. And inside of that box was yet another, smaller brown company-branded box, which contained the actual coffee maker. Some people might consider this overkill, but I appreciate the attention to detail to ensure the secure arrival of the appliance. The coffee maker was also cushioned between two pieces of molded cardboard, and then encased in a sheath to prevent scratches.
I was given a choice of colors and I choose the Atlantic Black finish, which has a rich, stylish look, especially with the gold handle. The coffee maker is also available in other colors, including Slate Grey, Eucalyptus Green, and Sand White.
On the left side of the coffee maker’s main body is the water tank, and the fluted glass design provides an elegant look. The 60-ounce water tank has a handle, and the plastic lid is removable. On the right side of the main body is the hot plate, removable coffee filter holder and lid, and space for the carafe.
The carafe is made of borosilicate glass, and has a metal handle with a gold finish. It is quite stylish. The carafe is designed to resist thermal shock. However, I’m not a fan of glass carafes. I understand that coffee makers with thermal carafes are more expensive, but they’re also practically indestructible. In addition, with a thermal carafe, there’s no need for a hot plate.
Other parts and accessories include two charcoal filters, charcoal filter holder, coffee scoop, and the over ice silicone pad. There’s also a gold mesh filter, which is a nice touch, and provides options when filling the brew basket. I prefer to use a paper coffee filter in the brew basket (it’s easier to discard of the coffee grounds). However, it’s nice to have the option of using the gold mesh filter, which eliminates the need to purchase paper coffee filters.

Documentation includes the user manual, three recipe cards, and a sheet of peel and a sheet of stickers (maybe for the kids?).

There’s also a label on the top of the coffee maker that provides a suggested ratio for brewing coffee. However, the ratio is really easy to remember: for example, 4 scoops for 4 cups, or 10 scoops for 10 cups.

The control panel is located on the front of the coffee maker, and is easy to read. The clock is on the front row, and has H and M icons to indicate the hours and minutes. On the second row are the text and selection/indicator lights for Cups (quantity), Strength, and Over Ice.

The bottom row contains the Delay Brew programmable selection, Thyme & Brew button (on/off), and Keep Warm mode.
The Delay Brew programmable feature provides the opportunity to schedule a time in advance for the coffee maker to start (provided you’ve already added coffee grounds and water). This is convenient for people who like to have their coffee ready when they wake up in the morning.
Performance
- Makes delicious coffee
- Keeps coffee hot for a long time
- Easy to clean and maintain
Brewing coffee is a straightforward process. The coffee’s strength defaults to normal, but by pressing the STRENGTH button, I can decrease or increase it. The four brew modes are Light, Classic, Robust, and Over Ice.
I tend to prefer a Classic Brew. However, I tested each of the four brewing modes to see if there was indeed a difference in the various strengths. The Classic mode produced an ideal brew, according to my taste buds. It was balanced, and flavorful, neither bitter nor weak.

The Light mode produced a brew that was not quite a strong; however, it did not taste weak. This was the strength that I would choose when drinking coffee late at night (although I’m usually drinking decaf coffee, anyway).
As expected, the Robust mode produced a stronger brew that had a fuller body. However, it was not bitter – just bold. Although I wouldn’t use the Robust setting on a regular basis, it is a good choice for those who enjoy a stronger cup of coffee.
I must admit that I’m not a fan of iced coffee – and was only accustomed to this terminology as relating to coffee being poured over ice in the coffee mug or glass. So, I was quite confused when the Thyme & Table instructions for making iced coffee were to pour ice into the water tank and then into the carafe – instead of into the actual coffee mug.
A bit of research revealed that the company was referring to the Japanese Iced Coffee method. So, I followed Thyme & Table’s instructions and filled the carafe with water and then poured it into the water tank. Then, I filled the carafe with ice.

The next step was to place the silicone pad on top of the heating plate, and then set the carafe on top of the silicone pad.

I chose Over Ice, and then the brew strength and volume. (note: the only volume options for Over Ice are 4 cups or 6 cups). As you can imagine, the hot water quickly melted the ice in the carafe. By the time I poured the coffee into the glass coffee mug, there were only one or two small pieces of ice left. However, this process also ensured that the coffee was not too diluted – and it did have a smooth body and was not too acidic.

A few additional notes about the coffee maker: when the carafe is removed, the coffee stops dripping, which is ideal for people who like to cheat and grab a cup of coffee before the full carafe has finished brewing.
Also, the hot plate keeps the coffee hot for up to 4 hours, so you don’t have to worry about microwaving the coffee because it’s gotten cold.
Should you buy it?
You want a basic coffee maker that also has a few bells and whistles
An extremely user-friendly coffee maker, making it a good choice for those who want a simple experience. However, it does have Light, Classic, Robust, and Over-Coffee modes, which makes it a step above basic coffee makers.
You want a range of different coffee drinks
The Thyme & Table Coffee Maker is good for drip coffee. However, some machines, like the Ninja Luxe Café Pro, can make drip coffee and espresso drinks, and they have an integrated grinder and milk frother. Keep in mind that they also cost significantly more.
Final Thoughts
The Thyme & Table Coffee Maker is a nice-looking, functional coffee maker that has some neat features, such as the ability to adjust the coffee strength, as well as the capability of making Iced Coffee. It’s a basic and straightforward appliance that doesn’t require you to be a barista to know how to use it. The lightweight and compact coffee maker doesn’t take up much space on the countertop, and the gold mesh filter is an added bonus. For the average coffee lover, this is more than enough to meet your needs without breaking the bank.
