The attendees: The Valentino creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, 55, was joined by his wife, Simona Caggia, and their daughters, Benedetta and Stella, ages withheld; the food entrepreneur Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 23, and his wife, the actor Nicola Peltz Beckham, 27; the actors Florence Pugh, 26, Ashley Park, 31, and Jenna Ortega, 20; the actor and singer Dove Cameron, 26; the drag performer Shea Couleé, 33; the actor and model Nuttanicha Dungwattanawanich, 26; and two members of the Valentino design team, the senior designer Gabriele Cusimano and the fashion director Sabato de Sarno, ages withheld.
The food: Piccioli and his team chose Loulou, an Italian restaurant on the first two floors of Paris’s Musée des Arts Décoratifs, for the post-show dinner. Guests were served truffle-topped pizza; a salad of raw purple artichokes, aged Parmesan and extra virgin olive oil; artichoke risotto; and grilled sea bass with artichoke and tomato. For dessert there was a platter of seasonal fruits and mille-feuilles with vanilla cream.
The music: The French D.J. Brooklyn Bakouma was responsible for the night’s music. Once the plates were cleared, the group danced to “Starry Night” (2019) by Peggy Gou, “Funny Thing” (2020) by Thundercat and several Herbie Hancock tracks, including “Call It ’95” (1994) and “People Are Changing” (1984).
The conversation: The primary topic was the spring 2023 ready-to-wear show that Piccioli and his team had unveiled earlier that day — a collection of silk dresses in nude tones, sequined catsuits and feather-trimmed suiting. They also reminisced about previous post-show parties. “We talked about the celebration we had after [the] couture [presentation],” recalls Piccioli, referring to the party he threw in July for his team and close friends at his family home in the beachside village of Nettuno, an hour’s drive from Rome. “Ashley was there, and we were remembering the moment we met in the water,” he says of that celebration’s midnight swim in the Mediterranean.
