Yeedi M14 Plus

At the right price this is an excellent robot vacuum cleaner and mop.

A flagship model, the Yeedi M14 Plus has a clever mopping system that uses a roller mop that can move outwards for proper edge cleaning. With a self-cleaning, self-emptying station and powerful suction, this robot is a very good cleaner. However, at full price, the competition is slightly better, but if you can pick this cleaner up during one of its regular sales, it’s an excellent choice.

  • Great value when on sale

  • Roller mop does reach to edges of the room

  • Powerful suction

  • At full price it’s expensive

Key Features

  • Extendible roller mop

Cleans right to the edges with fresh water added to the roller.

  • Powerful suction

18,000Pa suction power makes short work of big spills.

Introduction

A couple of months ago, there was only one robot vacuum cleaner that had a roller instead of mop pads, now the number is rapidly growing, including the Yeedi M14 Plus.

Although it’s a flagship model, this vacuum cleaner is regularly on sale. Just make sure you can get it at a discount price, where it’s a bargain; at its full price, the competition is better.

Design and Features

  • Roller for cleaning
  • Hot air drying
  • Simple but effective app

Yeedi is, perhaps, better known for its budget range of vacuum cleaners, but the Yeedi M14 Plus is more of a direct competitor to the high-end competition, such as the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete.

As with so many vacuum cleaners, this one ships with an all-in-one docking station. This has two tanks: one for clean water and one for dirty water. There’s no separate detergent tank here.

This station can heat water to 75°C for mop cleaning, and it also has hot air drying to prevent odours and bacteria from building up.

This docking station holds a large 3-litre bin bag, for the self-emptying system. Yeedi says that this should last around 90 days before needing to be replaced.

Externally, the robot looks much like any other, with a round body. There’s no sensor protruding from the top, with navigation handled by the camera and 3D sensor at the front of the robot. That combination should, in theory, allow this robot to get under some low obstacles.

There’s a small bin at the top of the vacuum cleaner. Given the dock has auto-emptying, you won’t need to empty the bin manually, but you should still clean the filter to maintain maximum suction power.

It’s underneath that the Yeedi M14 Plus really shows its differences, with a roller rather than mopping pads. I first saw a robot with a roller with the Eufy Omni S1 Pro but the technology is becoming more popular, with good reason.

Mop pads can get saturated with dirt, and can actually spread mess. A roller is dosed with fresh water each time, and dirty water and mess are dropped into a dirty tank. That, in theory, should deliver better cleaning performance.

This roller can extend sideways outside of the robot, for edge cleaning. That’s quite a clever trick and should allow for full edge-to-edge mopping.

There are some downsides to this design. First, the mop roller is off-centre and doesn’t stretch the full width of the vacuum cleaner. For mopping, the Yeedi M14 Plus needs to hit stains at the right angle.

Secondly, the mop roller can only be lifted when it detects carpet. That’s fine for dealing with shortpile carpet, but for any flooring with longer strands, you can risk wetting your carpet. Rival cleaners that can remove their mop pads allow for true vacuum-only modes.

A single side brush, located on the same side as the roller, can also be extended for edge vacuuming.

Centrally is ZeroTangle 3.0 brush bar, which Eufy says won’t get tangled with hair. This can be removed for cleaning, should muck get caught around it.

The chassis can lift 2cm to get over thresholds, but that’s not enough for a bigger step. If you have small steps for a robot to manage, you’ll need to look at the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete or the Roborock Saros 10.

Control of the vacuum cleaner is through the Yeedi app, which walked me through adding the Yeedi M14 Plus to my Wi-Fi network, and then performing an initial mapping run.

After this run, the app does its best to guess where rooms should be, although it doesn’t always get things right. In the Trusted Reviews Home Technology Lab, the Yeedi M14 Plus decided that I had a small room that the robot was in (it wasn’t) and a balcony (I don’t).

It’s easy to merge or split rooms using the app, getting the layout that you want. And, there are options to add in virtual boundaries, and to add furniture. The latter is useful, as furniture acts as a quick-select zone. For example, I can quickly select a dining table for a post-dinner clean-up.

Aside from selecting furniture, you can choose which rooms to clean, or draw a box where you want the robot to go for spot cleaning.

Cleaning settings are thorough, with an option to vacuum only, vacuum and mop at the same time or mop after vacuuming. There are then four vacuum power settings, adjustable water flow rates, and choice of cleaning speed and the option of one or two passes.

It’s a shame that there’s not a mop-only feature, which should be possible, given that there’s an option to vacuum first and then mop.

Advanced options include AI Intelligent Hosting, where the robot adjusts its settings automatically for the room type, floor surface and your habits, and the TruEdge Adaptive Edge Mopping, which keeps the roller extended for better cleaning along the edges of rooms and around obstacles, such as chair legs.

Performance

  • Powerful vacuuming
  • Very impressive edge cleaning
  • Good mopping on all but the toughest of stains

To test out the Yeedi M14 Plus, I put it through my standard real-world tests, starting with carpet vacuuming. Allowed to make two passes on its highest power setting, the 18,000Pa suction power made short work of the teaspoon of flour that I spilt. With nothing visible left, this robot vacuum cleaner is up there with the best.

I had a similar result on the hard floor, with my flour spill easily collected from the floor, leaving nothing behind.

My edge test is harder, with flour spread to the kitchen plinth. With the edge mop and the side brush extending, this robot did manage to clean right to the edge.

For stain removal, I let stains dry on the floor before letting the Yeedi M14 Plus tackle them in two passes.

My coffee stain was completely removed, with no trace of the mess left behind.

I found the same with the red wine stain. After just two passes, the stain had been removed, leaving nothing behind.

My mud stain is harder, with some solid particles and the ground-in stain. Even so, this mess proved no problem for the Yeedi M14 Plus, which picked up the solids and cleaned up what was left.

Dried-on ketchup is a very tough job, and it’s here that the Yeedi M14 Plus struggled. After two passes there was a lot of ketchup left; after four passes, some had gone, but the stain was still very visible.

With a light sprinkling of human hair, I was impressed to see that nothing had got caught around the Yeedi M14 Plus’s brush bar.

General navigation was good, with the robot managing to avoid a shoe and fake pet mess. I did find that the Yeedi M14 Plus got stuck under my corner sofa. The robot managed to get under alright, but it moved itself to the back of the sofa, which is slightly lower and got stuck.

Should you buy it?

Buy if you want quality cleaning for less

At its discounted price, the Yeedi M14 Plus is fantastic value considering how well it cleans.

Don’t buy if you want more features

If you want a robot that can drop its mop pads or climb over higher obstacles, look elsewhere.

Final Thoughts

The Yeedi M14 Plus is a very competent robot vacuum cleaner, but whether or not it’s a good buy depends on how much you can get it for. At full price, the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete is better: it mopped tough stains better, has a neater app and takes detergent, plus it climb more obstacles and it can leave its mop pads behind.

However, the Yeedi M14 Plus is often on sale for a fraction of its regular retail price, and as low as $600. At that kind of price it’s a bargain. For other choices check out my guide to the best robot vacuum cleaners.
