They say pain can make or break you. In the case of Mareen, it did both.
A few years ago, travel influencer and social media personality Mareen Schauder—known to her over 1 million followers as Miss.everywhere—found herself blindsided by heartbreak. After months of waiting, she was reunited with a man she had been traveling with, only to watch him spend the day with her, then pursue and leave with another woman right in front of her eyes.
“I was shattered. I took a flight to Bali and was crying for 16 hours,” she recalls.
But that painful moment would mark the beginning of an unexpected transformation. In Bali, amidst coping with the loss of her friendship and healing she visited a traditional healer—and began working on a new project.
“I knew I had to channel this energy of sadness into something positive somehow. I started the house project for myself, to process what happened and to distract myself,” she explains.

But this was no ordinary build. By putting all her energy into it, she created a masterpiece. The project turned out to be a breathtaking Cycladic-style loft villa that she, with a touch of irony, named after the location she had visited with the man who hurt her.
The luxury Mykonos Villa located in Canggu has become one of Bali’s highest ranked Airbnb properties, boasting a staggering 98% year-round occupancy rate and consistently generating six figures annually. Booked out weeks and even months in advance, the design space attracts guests from all over the world—many of them couples—drawn to the magic Mareen curated.

The villa’s dreamy design features 4-meter-high removable glass ceilings that open to the sky, a sunken all-white living area made of big pillows, ambient sound systems playing nomadic beats, a large tropical pool, and intricate hand-crafted sculptures. The house is more than a stay—it’s a statement. A living, breathing reflection of Mareen’s nomadic life as a well-traveled soul, shaped by freedom, artisan craftsmanship, music, attention to details and resilience.
In a poetic twist, the walls are adorned with photos from her travels taken by the man who unknowingly sparked this new chapter.
“ I loved his creative eye for photography and perspective .” she says, not bitter, but grateful—for the lessons, the memories, and the inspiration that turned into her empire.
Despite the unexpected business success, for Mareen, the greatest reward is hearing how the space makes people feel.
The reviews go from “ the most beautiful Airbnb I stayed at in Bali “ to calling it “ a place that made my girlfriend and me feel like we have made it in life “.
“The most important thing for me is when guests say the house feels like home—like an amazing place that uplifts their spirit. That always makes me smile” she shares.
From tears on a 16-hour flight to a tranquil sanctuary admired by guests, Mareen’s story is proof that sometimes, the greatest pains lead to the most beautiful rebuilds.
