Verdict
Radically different to most leaf blowers in design, the Einhell Professional GP-LB 36/270 leaf blower looks more like something out of a sci-fi film. It’s powerful, loud, and capable of blowing away anything in the garden, but all this power adds quite a bit of weight.

Introduction
The Einhell Professional GP-LB 36/270 is a powerful piece of debris-blowing garden equipment. Designed like a jet engine, it provides an enormous amount of wind speed when you need it. But unlike most other leaf blowers, the blowing part of the tool is on an adjustable head, and it uses a unique arm strap rather than a normal handle.
Looking a bit like a futuristic crutch, it’s perfect for someone who wants to stand out from the crown and has a big area to cover.
Design and Features
- Adjustable blower head
- Arm strap for extra control
- Five speeds and a boost function
Well built, solid, and powerful, this is a serious blower that packs a punch. If you want maximum power and you don’t mind a bit of extra weight, it’s almost unbeatable.
It feels nice and solid, with an aluminium shaft and lots of chunky plastic parts in the handle and head end.
The ergonomics are good. What sets this blower apart is the way you hold it- it has a forearm support that you can strap onto your arm with Velcro. It keeps it locked to your arm, which is an interesting idea but not that useful in my opinion. I’d rather be able to put it down without having to undo a strap. Luckily, the blower stays in place well enough without the straps done up.
The handle has a comfy rubberised grip, above which is a little roller switch to control the air speed. There are five speeds to choose from, each with its own little LED light to the right. On the other side of the roller switch is a turbo button that provides even more power than level five.

The GP-LB 36/270 gets its power from a pair of 18V batteries to make 36V in total. They slot neatly onto the rear end of the blower to help to keep things balanced.

When it’s time to stow this tool away, it doesn’t have a dedicated place for a hook, but you could always hang it up by its handle.
Performance
- Powerful boost mode
- Up to 40 minutes run time
- Very loud on full power
This blower packs a serious punch from its large, adjustable nozzle. On the lowest power setting, the Einhell Professional GP-LB 36/270 produces enough air for simple jobs, but whack it up to maximum and you get a solid blast of air that can easily deal with tougher jobs. I measured air flow at 8.5m/s from one metre away, making this one of the most powerful blowers that I’ve tested. But if you need even more force, pressing the boost button pushes the blower all the way up to 11.5m/sec from 1m away. You can really feel the blower push back against you – it’s enough for any garden situation, but be aware that it drains the batteries quickly, around 10 minutes.

All this power does come at a cost though. At more than a metre long and weighing more than 3.3 kg with the batteries installed, it’s a bit of a beast. It’s ideal if you want maximum power, but this weight does result in arm fatigue after a while.
The noise is quite something too: the leaf blower makes 80dB on the lowest setting, but once boost is engaged it topped out at a whopping 120dB, or about the same as a police siren. You won’t use boost mode for long, but it’s still incredibly loud.
Although this blower is comfortable to hold, it’s a bit heavy and cumbersome compared with lightweight blowers like the WORX WG543E. The Einhell Professional GP-LB 36/270 ideal for big piles of leaves, but not ideal if you want a focused jet of air for more delicate clearance jobs.
Should you buy it?
You want a powerful and distinctive leaf blower
If you want an adjustable blowing head and already own Einhell batteries,, this leaf blower is a great choice.
You want something ultra-light and manoeuvrable
Weighing more than 3 kg and relying on a forearm strap as well as a handle, it’s not for everyone.
Final Thoughts
This is a bold and futuristic take on the classic leaf blower shape. Solidly built and running on a pair of 18V batteries, the Einhell Professional GP-LB 36/270 provides a huge amount of power, especially with “boost” mode on. The crutch-like handle might not suit everyone, but it definitely stands out from the crowd. For something smaller, read the guide to the best leaf blowers.
