Crowd-Pleaser Comeback at Morrison’s Lounge: DQATS Band Lighted Up Cannes

Dimple & Ross, FOOKIE DUO

It’s been nearly two years since DQATS last shook the Riviera’s music scene, but on the evening of April 27th, they returned—louder, tighter, and even more electric than ever. The band lit up Morrison’s Lounge in Cannes with a setlist packed with pop, rock, and R&B covers that had the crowd dancing from the first beat to the very last encore.

For those who’ve followed DQATS over the years, this comeback felt less like a gig and more like a reunion. Over a hundred people packed into the venue, some longtime fans, others new faces, all drawn into the band’s infectious spirit.

The new lineup made their presence known in style. Dimple, the ever-radiant frontwoman, took the stage with her signature charisma, her voice cutting clean through every note with emotion and power. She’s a born performer, and that showed in every song. But she didn’t carry the vocals alone—Ross, who usually holds down the groove on bass, stepped up more than once to take the mic, adding a rougher, soulful edge that balanced Dimple’s clarity. Their vocal interplay gave the set a richness and depth that made it feel bigger than the room they were in.

If Dimple and Ross felt especially at ease on stage, there’s a reason: the two also perform as FOOKIE DUO, a staple in the live music scene across Nice, Beausoleil, and Monaco. Regulars know the vibe—intimate shows, great energy, and the kind of musical chemistry that only comes with time. They’ve built a loyal following that shows up time and time again, always waiting for the next night out. FOOKIE DUO returns to Le Corner (Beausoleil) on May 23rd and Khaesarap (Nice) on May 24th, for those who want to catch them in a more stripped-down setting.

Back in Cannes, Wendell on drums kept the room pulsing, and King brought texture and grit on guitar. Together, the band had a chemistry that didn’t need explanation—it just worked.

It wasn’t so long ago, in places like Nice and Biot, that DQATS earned their reputation for delivering nights that stayed with you. Last November 2023, they brought their vibrant sound to Sophia Tahanan, and before that, they made waves during France’s Fête de la Musique celebrations. But something about this April show felt different—more seasoned, more certain. Maybe it was the time away. Maybe it was the joy of simply being back on stage. Whatever it was, the energy in that room was undeniable.

As they rolled through a mix of crowd-pleasing anthems and smooth R&B grooves, you could feel people letting go. Couples danced. Friends sang along with arms around each other. Life moves fast these days—screens, noise, distractions—but DQATS brought people together the old-fashioned way: with real music, played loud, from the heart.

There’s something about DQATS that just clicks. It’s not only the talent—though there’s plenty of that—but the way they play like they mean it. Dimple doesn’t just sing a song, she makes you feel like you’ve lived it. Ross brings that grit and soul, grounding every high note with something a little raw. Though no future dates have been announced just yet, there’s a sense that this show was more than just a one-off. The crowd’s response made one thing clear—the demand is still there.

After a night like that, it’s safe to say DQATS left a mark. No big promises, no next stop announced—just a band that gave it their all and a crowd that felt every second of it. The only real question now is: when they hit the stage again, will you be there?
