The most awaited Spider-Man 2 game has been released in the PlayStation Studios and is already breaking records by becoming the fastest-selling game on the platform. Within 24 hours of its release, it sold millions of copies which marks the game’s popularity and demand among gaming enthusiasts. This is not the first time Marvel’s Spider-Man has gone on a record-breaking spree, its first game also broke the record for the same title by selling 3.3 million copies in the first three days, according to The Verge.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 sales after launch
According to a Business Wire release, Sony announced that Spider-Man 2 has become the fastest-selling game in the PlayStation Studios by selling over 2.5 million copies in just 24 hours. Sony said, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games, has sold more than 2.5 million copies to become the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in PlayStation history in the first 24 hours.”
Earlier God of War Ragnarok had the title and now it has been replaced by Marvel’s second generation game of Spider-Man, The Verge reported. The Spider-Man 2 has been released exclusively for PlayStation 5. PlayStation also shared a post on X which announced the milestone and thanked the users. It said, “Great news, Spidey fans — Marvel’s #SpiderMan2PS5 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours. Thanks for making this a high-flying launch!”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was released for PlayStation Studios on October 20, 2023, and since then the sales have been high making it one of the most popular games of all time on the platform. The game is announced with some new gameplay features and unique quest lines. As per reports, the sequel unfolds a new chapter in Peter and Miles’ storyline where the villains include Venom, Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, and Sandman. The other two parts which were released in 2018 and 2020 also hold immense popularity due to the gameplay, storyline, unique features, and more.
